4 Ghosty Incidents in 24 Hours: Who Are You and What Do You Want?

I seek rational answers before assuming paranormal activity. Always. If something weird happens I investigate, report, or both. That’s largely the point of this blog. And we just had 4 separate incidents in the same two rooms in the space of a day. I wouldn’t share these events on their own. But altogether I have to. Especially since they occurred in my own home.

#1

We were in the kitchen. Michele and Mum chatted at the counter while I stood on the opposite side, facing the library. There’s a small bathroom in the library. And I watched that closed door swing completely open, slow. So did the dog.

Michele watched the dog creep toward the threshold, pause and stare at the door, which made her see it, too. And here’s the essential thing you need to know.

That door cannot, does not, move on its own. Let alone 180°.

“That door just opened,” I said.

“It’s an old house,” Mum said.

“Yes. But that door does not move on its own. Wherever you hold it, it stays.”

I walked over to demonstrate.

“I saw it.” Michele stood up to leave, then paused ahead of me in the library.

A room with a rustic wooden wall and an open door revealing another room. A dog is sitting on the floor looking back at the camera.

“Is Christopher not here?”

“No.”

Her face changed.

“Jennifer I saw a man walk in.”

“Where? When.”

“Just a few seconds ago. Like coming from the front door. And go that way.”

She pointed to the bedrooms.

Both doors remained closed.

“Jennifer, I swear.”

“What did he look like? What was he wearing?”

“White shirt. That’s why I thought it was Chris and wondered why he didn’t come say hi.” She was visibly freaked out. “You know I don’t see stuff like this. And I’m telling you I saw a man.”

“I believe you,” I said.

And I did.

About an hour later we suffered a major loss in the family. Not entirely unexpected. But a sudden, devastating loss nonetheless. I’m including this fact for documentation purposes.

And that was that.

I thought.

The next night Harvey and I sat on the couch watching a movie when I glanced to the foyer. A man stood by the pillar, staring back. Then disappeared.

And such is the nature of apparitions. They appear so briefly you wonder if you made it up. But I’m not new to this. And I know what I saw.

White man. 40’s maybe? White tee. Harmless.

I paused the movie.

Harvey looked over, annoyed.

“Sorry. I just saw a man over there. Gimme a sec.”

I stared in the empty foyer, trying to get a feel. Did I feel scared? No. Unnerved? No. Did I think it was the same guy from yesterday? Yes.

But there was something in Harvey’s expression, too.

A cozy room featuring a wooden piano under a painting of four faces, surrounded by musical instruments and decor, with a doorway leading to a bookshelf area.

“Mom, I saw a man in the library last night.”

“Seriously?”

I hadn’t told him about the door incident. No point, really. These things happen so often my kids are indifferent.

“In the middle of the night.”

“What did he look like?”

“I couldn’t tell it was dark. But Colin was staring in the library so I looked and there was a man sitting in the chair. I saw his outline and it freaked me out.”

Colin’s our cat, by the way.

So now I gotta figure out who this guy is. Who he’s attached to, why, what he wants, etc. Do I think it’s our recently departed? I’m inclined to say no, but I can’t be sure. The house is swarming with people these days. Did someone leave an attachment behind? Is he attached to someone here, now? That happens, you know. Again, I’m not certain. But two things I know for sure: There’s an entity, and he’s harmless.

If you’re new here my name is Jennifer. I’m a professional intuitive medium, reiki master, and longtime educator on paranormal and metaphysical phenomena. My goal at all times is to dispel misinformation around these wildly misunderstood topics.  I’ll soon be expanding professional services so stay tuned.

Again, we must always seek rational explanation before assuming paranormal activity. It’s the responsible thing to do. But sometimes, that’s the answer.
